Previously Delayed SHAtter Jailbreak Exploit Has Been Leaked

Posted: 23 Dec 2010 05:05 AM PST

Well this is quite surprising, according to a rather heated debate between p0sixninja of the Chronic Dev Team and MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev Team on Twitter, the former accused the latter of leaking the SHAtter jailbreak, which had been preserved  for the next iPhone update as well as the next gen iOS devices.

MuscleNerd has been publicly accused by p0sixninja claiming his hand behind the leaking of the exploit; Nevertheless, MuscleNerd refuted allegations leveled against him by saying that it would be illogical for him to leak the exploit as he would be needing the jailbreak to perform an unlock for the next device.

MuscleNerd also tries to substantiate his claim by reminding p0sixninja that there were 15 others in the room when the code was posted by pod2g, initially, the SHAtter exploit was developed by pod2g a couple of months after p0sixninja had discovered the crash, but its launch was delayed due to Limera1n release. However, it has now been leaked.

So what all this drama boils down to is the fact that it is indeed possible for Apple to block this particular exploit when the time comes for any new iDevice to be released. However, p0sixninja claims that an untethered bootroom exploit is still on its way.

The whole conversation between @p0sixninja and @MuscleNerd can be viewed by clicking on the links for their Twitter accounts.

Comex Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 May Miss Christmas Release Deadline

Posted: 22 Dec 2010 11:37 PM PST

With what was primarily expected that the untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak should be expected to release around Christmas Eve, Contrary to that belief, this latest tweet from Comex indicates that a Christmas release may not happen.

Comex Tweeted:

I think I’m going to miss my Christmas deadline…

Earlier this week, we had told you about the 'backup plan' of the iPhone Dev-Team as they had announced that their untethered jailbreak was nearly ready to be rolled out, and the best part about it was that users would not be requiring a restore of their device but it would require iOS 4.2b3 SHSH blobs for untethered jailbreak.

The good thing about Comex is the extensible and efficient untethered method for iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak as it would not require access to the developer only 4.2b3 IPSW and would be applicable to all iOS 4.2.1 devices, so it's feasible for users that they wait for this.

Facebook Rolls Out Revamped Design of News Feed Filters

Posted: 22 Dec 2010 11:39 AM PST

Facebook is back in the news once again as this time the social network has unveiled a whole new way for users to filter their News Feed. Details given below.

Previously, the News Feed presented two options, Top News, which happens to be an algorithmic choice of Facebook showing the most interesting stories from the user's feed and Most Recent stories, which obviously showed the latest happening and changing stories from the user's friends.

In light of these changes, the Most Recent option has been transformed into a drop-down menu which offers users with new options. Users will now be able to see stories pertaining to Games, Status Updates, Photos, Links and Pages in their feed. Users will also have the ability to select a particular Group of theirs to only see stories from. The drop-down menu will also now give the user access to the Live Feed settings, from where they can moderate their preferences as to how many stories they want to see from a particular user.

The core functions of these individual filters are easily explained by the terms, themselves. Games will show game related content, Photos will show stories only with images, Status Updates will show a nice and clean stream of updated statuses, Links shall focus towards posts with links, and Pages will display updates of Pages the user has opted for.

Nevertheless, it should be kept in mind that this new option is still not live for everybody on Facebook, and it could also be a possibility that this is just a test run by Facebook, we'll have to wait and see what ultimately happens.
