Facebook is NOT Ending on March 15. Fake News! Posted: 09 Jan 2011 02:11 AM PST Interestingly! a recent news posted by weeklyworldnews, a parody/fake news blog, has suddenly made the world very uncomfortable. The news, titled ‘Facebook will end on March 15th‘, presents a fake account of Mark Zuckerberg announcing to shut down Facebook in March this year.
The news, which originally intends to be nothing more than a piece of humor, has discomforted the users on the web to such an extent that the topic is trending on Google Trends and Twitter right now. There has been no response from the Facebook on the matter yet so it can be easily busted as FAKE! Cheers! PS: If Facebook is really shutting down, it will be on the TV not some blog. Trust me! |
Apple Support Profile Website Launched Making Troubleshooting Easier Posted: 08 Jan 2011 11:57 PM PST Apple has now introduced the new Apple Support Profile Website, through which it will be easier for consumers to get technical support for their Apple products. By accessing the site, users can easily check the registration and warranty status of all of their Apple devices, and if someone has a repair or support issue in progress, Apple's records about the issue can be reviewed straight from the browser itself. There are no separate signup procedures to log into the Apple Support Profile site, simply use the same username and password that you use in the iTunes store or what's commonly known as your Apple ID. Apple will display all of the computers they already know about once you sign in, however if your profile is not showing all of the devices you've previously had, below these entries you'll find a link to manually register more equipment. The Apple Support Profile site will also auto-detect the serial number of the Mac that you will use to access the site, although it can't do the same for iOS devices. Apple has also included an option called VoicePass for US and Canadian customers, which claims to match your profile to your phone numbers, so that Apple has all your computer information at fingertips when you call from those numbers, and you even get to update the numbers that you want Apple to match your profile with. Customers in the United States also have the option of receiving text messages with status updates. It's quite useful to have all your computer information organized in one place, whether or not you're troubleshooting your Apple device, which in turn is adding a whole new dimension to the Support line calling experience. Do check out the Apple Support Profile site. Via iClarified |
Waterloo Labs Introduces Eye-Powered Motion Control Tech Posted: 08 Jan 2011 08:36 AM PST It all started with controllers, then they became Wireless. In the end came Kinect. We all know by using Kinect your whole body can act as a controller but story doesn't ends here. CES 2011 at Las Vegas had something better to reveal. Waterloo labs introduced a prototype of a controller that uses your eyeballs movements to control graphics and play games. It doesn't even require you to move. It was demonstrated by attaching few electrodes to the skin near a person's eyes. These electrodes were then connected to a motherboard that controlled TV. This technology is based on fact of polarization of one's eyes. With positive in front and negative in back, eyes create voltages. Certain voltage is created depending on where you look. This is then translated to moving graphics on screen. There are only simple games available. The first one is Dance Dance Revolution which uses this technology. We hope to see this technology available for consumers as soon as possible. This video linked below demonstrates how it all works.

Apple iPad 2 Hardware Reportedly Spotted at CES 2011 Posted: 08 Jan 2011 07:32 AM PST Rumors and speculations regarding the next model of Apple's magical tablet, iPad 2 as it is being called, have taken a new height, particularly after some rather interesting recent news. Following rumors that the iPad 2 might be releasing on 1st February 2011, Mashable seems to have come across what just might possibly be the back of the upcoming iPad 2. They spotted this piece of metal in a booth during the Consumer Electronics Show, which surely looks like the back of an iPad, and it even has new holes for speakers and a front-facing camera, further confirming more speculation about the features of the next model. Mashable reports:
It does sound too good to be true, as Apple rarely sends dummy prototypes to case makers or accessory manufacturers before a product is actually released, and many other cases which have surfaced claiming to be real haven't exactly lived up to their claims as yet. As much as one would like to be skeptical about the iPad 2, it can't be denied that the excitement regarding this device is seriously building up now. In your opinion, do you think this piece of metal has something to do with the iPad 2? Let us know in your comments below. |

WordPress.com Bags 6 Million New Blogs & 23 Billion Pageviews in 2010 Posted: 08 Jan 2011 05:36 AM PST Hands down, WordPress has to be the one of the most popular blogging platforms out there on the internet. Brought to life by Automattic, WordPress.com reportedly has seen 6 million new blogs and 23 billion pageviews for the year 2010. This number represents an overall increase of 53% from 2009. These latest stats were reported by The Next Web, which added:
Automattic founder Matt Mullenweg and CEO Toni Scheider revealed last month that the company has around 30 million total publishers responsible for roughly 10% of all websites in the world, and they also said that WordPress.com receives 300 million unique visitors each month, a staggering number for this five year old company. There is no doubt that WordPress.com is growing exponentially and its breaking point isn't anywhere in the near future, however, it has yet to become a commercial success. It is said that the company makes around $1 million per month from premium and hosting services, which is quite a negligible figure for a company that is literally on the front lines of web publishing.
